rooting

Rooting is the foundational piece in this collection, created as part of my dissertation praxis. Traveling from England to South Africa, I gathered and painted with pigments from the land along the way. Although I was regularly moving, maintaining a practice of working with the earth where I found myself cultivated a sense of home beyond geography. In the end, I found my home within the land herself.
