place of much water
This piece was created following a hiking trip through the Tsitsikamma. Inspired by the landscape, I was eager to paint with the colors that had revealed themselves and to witness what emerged. Only after completing the piece did I learn that the name Tsitsikamma, originating from the Khoekhoe language, translates to "place of much water." It is curious to me that a fluid, watery quality emerged in this work—perhaps it wasn’t me painting after all, but the place of much water herself…
